Despite what this pandemic challenges us, it is good news that business confidence rose again in this fourth quarter and reached its seventh consecutive month of rise with a value of 54.16 points in November, according to the Monthly Indicator of IMCE Business Confidence, prepared by Icare and U. Adolfo Ibañez.  This lower pessimism opens up opportunities for improvement in company operations, which is becoming a relevant issue. This is how the trend is being observed at the aggregate level in Chile, as in some Latin American countries, such as Mexico and Colombia, although we cannot ignore different realities at a disaggregated level.

Senior executives are viewing positive long-term prospects. What is relevant now is that this less pessimism, certainly moderate and fragile, allows them to realize that things can be done better in a sustainable way, improving their productivity from within, embracing the experience of these months that leave learning, and not just losses , and adjusting the changes together with their teams, so as not to stay only in increasing confidence, but also to focus now on improving results in the long term, already aiming for 2021 and beyond.

Uncertainty is already part of the panorama that companies have been overcoming, it should not be a problem. diagnostics, too. Even when that second wave approaches, it should not be a discouragement, but a reason to cling more strongly to the adoption of sanitary measures to continue operating. Now the scenario calls for abandoning diagnoses and starting to execute with innovation, with diversity and without fear of failure, learning to manage and reduce risks, which will always be present from now on.
